๐‘ป๐’‚๐’š๐’๐’๐’“ ๐‘บ๐’˜๐’Š๐’‡๐’•โ€™s family is going through an extremely difficult time. The singer revealed her mother, Andrea Swift, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor while undergoing treatment for cancer, which returned for the second time while the Grammy winner, 30, was filming her upcoming Netflix documentary โ€œMiss Americana.โ€

In a new interview with Variety, Swift opened up about what the diagnosis means for her mother, her family, and her music career.Everyone loves their mom; everyoneโ€™s got an important mom,โ€ Swift said. โ€œBut for me, sheโ€™s really the guiding force. Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness.

โ€œShe was going through chemo, and thatโ€™s a hard enough thing for a person to go through,โ€ she continued. โ€œWhile she was going through treatment, they found a brain tumorAnd the symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what weโ€™ve ever been through with her cancer before. So itโ€™s just been a really hard time for us as a family,โ€ Swift explained.

๐‘ป๐’‚๐’š๐’๐’๐’“ ๐‘บ๐’˜๐’Š๐’‡๐’• dropped her new album โ€œLoverโ€ in August and has since adjusted her upcoming touring schedule to spend more time at home with her mom, who is 62.I mean, we donโ€™t know what is going to happen,โ€ she confessed. โ€œWe donโ€™t know what treatment weโ€™re going to choose. It just was the decision to make at the time, for right now, for whatโ€™s going on.โ€

One song titled โ€œSoon Youโ€™ll Get Betterโ€ on the new album is dedicated to her momโ€™s recovery.โ€œThat was really, really hard to write, and it was just a family decision whether to even put it on the album,โ€ admitted Swift. โ€œWe as a family decided to put this on the album, and itโ€™s something Iโ€™m so proud of, but itโ€™s just really hard. I canโ€™t sing it. Itโ€™s hard to just emotionally deal with that song.โ€

Iโ€™ve had to learn how to handle serious illness in my family. Both of my parents have had cancer, and my mom is now fighting her battle with it again,โ€ she wrote in a personal essay for the publication.โ€œItโ€™s taught me that there are real problems and then thereโ€™s everything else,โ€ Swift described. โ€œMy momโ€™s cancer is a real problem. I used to be so anxious about daily ups and downs. I give all of my worry, stress, and prayers to real problems now.โ€
